Honoring Families

E-mail Print PDF

America's Military families will be honored by a lifesize statue which will be placed at the retreat. "Homecoming," commissioned by Wounded Warriors Family Support, will depict a family reunited after a long, dangerous, deployment overseas. The sculptor is Nebraska native Matthew Placzek.

The staute will honor the dedication and sacrifice of these families. Without strong and resolute military families, our nation’s military would not be able to deploy to defend our freedoms. It is our military families who are at war in their own way. For their thoughts are of a loved one thousands of miles away. The retreat will serve as a monument to our military families and as a tribute to the sacrifice and hardships they endure when our nation goes to war. As our motto states: “When America goes to war, our families go to war.”
